Officer Selection

The Selection of Officers

The selection of officers is arguably the most important piece of this project. As young men join our fraternity and begin there travel it would help them to know that there is a quality body of work to consult and brothers who can present the information. Further, in any organization, professional development is an integral part of growth. Brothers selected for leadership positions must be models able to assist in the facilitation of this growth. These brothers are a direct and very visible reflection of craft.

Membership in the lodge would be less stringent. However, in order for brothers to ascend they must produce a project worthy of publication on a relevant and timely subject. He must also complete a brief training syllabus which is to be developed at a later date. What follows is the proposed rubric to be used in the selection:

Scores represent the maximum a brother may score. Extra points will be given to those who have published.

* A member with a doctorate needs only to present copies of transcripts. If the member is ABD he may present his proposal. A member with a Maters degree may present his thesis—if applicable.

** A sitting Worshipful Master will get the same five points. However, his evaluations must be favorable.

Finally, potential officers and members must petition to join. Every potential member will be asked to do a brief documented history of their lodge (if not already done). If a history has already been done then, another piece of documented work may be submitted for consideration. After due process and proper vetting, recommendations of officers and members will be submitted to the chain-of-command
